Custom Pricing In the "Order Price Matrix"

Specifically as it relates to the "order price matrix" in the Sales tab:

Pricing can either be established through the item master or overridden with the order price matrix. We have a handful of customers with special pricing in the order price matrix but it is a very annoying field to use. It is not user friendly. Customer IDs must be referenced along with the product number, no customer names are used . There is no way to know whether a customer has pricing in the matrix unless you place a memo in the customer account. As this pricing is customer specific, a better location for this would be within the customer account field. An easy to read table of items along with their "special pricing" would be ideal.
